School council approved the fee structure at the spring meeting. Parents are encouraged to pay school fees online. Parents can also pay school fees by cash or cheque if they choose; however, we are strongly encouraging parents to use the online payment system.
Please join the St. Jerome School community as we celebrate the opening of the school year and our patron saint – “St. Jerome Day” in our school gym on Wednesday, September 17th, at 10:30 a.m. We encourage all to wear red to celebrate St. Jerome. As always, parents are welcome to attend!
As part of our Kick-Off to our Community of Caring this year, our school is participating in a clothing drive from September 22-26, called “Pass It On” (at St. Mary’s School). Our goal is to collect 1 donated item of clothing from each student in our school. The clothing will then be picked up and distributed to homeless and needy families in Calgary.
If you wish to participate in this drive, please send one piece per student of new or gently used (freshly laundered, please) winter clothing to school the week of September 22-25. Some examples of items we are collecting are winter coats, jeans, mittens, toques, or hoodies, but please feel free to send in a different piece of clothing not listed. Any size, child or adult, would be appropriate.
If you would like to volunteer to help sort clothing on September 26th, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Jennifer Raffard at email@example.com
Thank you for your support.
The first reporting period at St. Jerome is referred to as an ‘Oral Report’.
The District has implemented a common oral progress report date of September 11th and 12th. The oral reporting period is interactive in that we seek parental input. At the Oral Report session, you will receive information regarding your child’s standing for baseline testing. Students are tested in reading, writing, spelling and mathematics for us to determine the starting point for instruction for the year.
We look forward to the collaboration of ideas with you as we believe that parents are partners in the educational process!
Please log on to the conference manager at https://stjerome.schoolsoft.ca/login.jsf to register and book your 10 minute interview time.
Welcome all returning families with a special welcome for new families to St. Jerome School. You have joined a community of children, teachers and parents dedicated to the promotion of a positive school environment. By combining our individual talents, we make this school the place it can be!
The staff at St. Jerome School wish you a safe and wonderful summer break. We look forward to seeing you on September 2, 2014, which is a full day of classes starting at 8:30 a.m.
The final celebration of the year will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 23rd. As always, all parents are invited to attend our year-end mass and celebration to bid ‘farewell’ to our Grade 6 students!
Our year-end PowerPoint celebration will be directly following the celebration. Parents are also welcome to attend this event to enjoy the year in pictures!
The last day for students to take our books from the school library was Friday, June 6. All library books should have been returned to the library by Friday, June 13. Please assist your students in returning any books or text books that may still be outstanding. On average, over 4500 books circulate in and out of the library per month. That’s a lot of reading going on! Reading will take you places this summer.
Parents in this community are for the most part very good at observing parking and drop-off regulations at the school. At St. Jerome School, our philosophy is “Safety Over Convenience”. The students know that they are not to walk or play in the parking lot as it poses a safety hazard when cars are backing up. The “Drop-Off Zone” is for dropping off and picking up students only – vehicles should never be left unattended as this is not a parking lot. We have also witnessed a few students jaywalking while holding their parent’s hand. Please use the crosswalk so that our School Patrollers can cross you safely. We appreciate parent support in ensuring that students develop good, safe habits around traffic.
Our Lost and Found items will be displayed in the front hallway. The clothing will remain on view until Wednesday, June 25th at 3:00 p.m. By that time, all students will have had ample opportunity to view the clothes and claim any lost items. Items that remain unclaimed after this will be donated to a local charity.
