“Snowtember” is a City of Calgary initiative and St. Jerome School is involved as we are the City of Calgary’s Arbour Day school for 2016! “Snowtember” is meant to mark the 1 year anniversary of the snow event last September when many trees were damaged in the city. The City of Calgary has planted 2 trees beside our playground as a symbol of the planting that is going on all around the city to replace our urban forest.
This Thursday at 11am, Mayor Nenshi will be here to officially “plant” the two trees and talk about the initiative. Our Grade 1 students will be involved and have created artwork depicting the “4 seasons of a tree”. We would also love to invite any Grade 1 parents who would like to attend!

Just a reminder that school resumes at 8:30am on Tuesday, September 1st (full day). At that time teachers will have class lists and will be standing in grade groupings outside. Please look for your child’s grade and teachers will share their lists with students and then proceed to their classrooms. Individual calls will not be made this year to avoid miscommunication. We look forward to seeing you September 1st.
A big thank you needs to go out to Sobeys in Country Hills (Greg – Manager) and the Carriage House Inn (Lino – Manager) for their generous help with the Fun Lunch for our students.
